PayPal
PayPal has opened its PayPal X global payments platform to third-party developers, ushering in a new generation of innovative payments. On November 3rd 2009, PayPal X became the world's first truly open global online payment platform.

By opening our platform, we're giving developers access to the global payment engine we've built over the last decade, with:

  • more than 78 million active PayPal accounts
  • connections to 15,000 financial institutions around the world
  • availability in 190 markets and 24 currencies

The network is the platform on which the potential of digital money will be fully realised.

PayPal has put developers in the driver's seat, providing the tools needed to change the future of payments – from mobile apps to social networks and payroll. Developers can now monetize their ideas and tap into the $30 trillion global payments opportunity - the next wave of payments innovation is in their hands.

PayPal X will be defined by the developer community. To help shape the direction of our open platform we've enlisted the help and feedback of over a thousand developers through our beta program.
